River City Montessori School is a small privately run preschool and elementary school in the New Bern area.  Our small classes enable us to focus on your child, giving their education the attention it may not receive in a larger setting. The Montessori environment is designed to facilitate children's development of independence, self confidence, concentration, coordination, social and academic skills. It is an approach that addresses the whole child.

We accept students ages 2-9 from all surrounding counties. Our diverse curriculum includes all basic subjects with a focus on grace and courtesy, self expression through art and crafts and practical life skills.  Outdoor free play and structured activites are held daily (weather permitting). We enjoy frequent field trips to explore our community throughout the year.  Our classes are held Monday through Friday 9:00am - noon.  Our plans for the 2007/2008 school year include the addition of a lower elementary class (K,1,2,3+) and extended day (9am-2pm) for elementary class. 

River City Montessori originated as Moebius Montessori in 2003 under the direction of Mrs. Barbara Rowe.  In 2005 teacher Michelle Tripp stepped in and became director.  Our name and location changed.  Director Michelle Tripp is Montessori certified and a COTA/L with seven years pediatric experience.
